Jelle Ceuleers with Lidl-Trek During the Spring Classics

Behind the Scenes of Peak Performance: osteopath Jelle Ceuleers with Lidl-Trek During the Spring Classics

The Spring Classics are one of the most demanding periods in professional cycling each year. Rain, cobbles, steep climbs, and back-to-back race days push both riders and staff to their limits. This spring, our colleague Jelle Ceuleers from LMent was right at the heart of that action, with an important role within the team's support.

A Trusted Partner Since 2017

The collaboration between LMent and Lidl-Trek goes back several years. Since 2017, LMent has been supporting the team and has become a trusted and integral part of the performance department. This long-term partnership ensures strong communication, mutual trust, and a deep understanding of the riders’ needs.

Balancing Practice and Racing

During the Classics campaign, Lidl-Trek operated from a fixed base at Hotel Wynebrugge. From there, both training sessions and race logistics were managed. For Jelle, this meant a demanding schedule—commuting between the practice and the team, always with one clear goal: keeping the riders in peak condition.

Supporting World-Class Athletes

Jelle worked closely with several top names in the peloton. Within the men’s team, he supported riders such as Mads Pedersen, Jonathan Milan, and Mattias Skjelmose. The women’s team also relied on his expertise, including athletes like Shirin van Anrooij and Elisa Balsamo.

His role extended far beyond treatment alone. It involved continuous monitoring, preventive care, and quick intervention for minor issues—often before they could develop into actual injuries.

Focus on Performance and Injury Prevention

During such an intense and consecutive race period, recovery is crucial. The objective was therefore twofold:

  • Performance optimization: ensuring riders start each race feeling strong and fresh
  • Injury prevention: identifying and addressing early signs of overload

Through daily treatments, targeted follow-ups, and close communication with the team staff, every detail was carefully monitored.

Strong Performances in the Ardennes

These efforts paid off. Lidl-Trek proved highly competitive throughout the Spring Classics, delivering strong performances—especially in the Ardennes. In a period where marginal gains make all the difference, medical and performance support plays a key role.

Proud of Our Contribution

At LMent, we are proud to contribute to performance at the highest level of professional cycling through Jelle’s work. His dedication, flexibility, and expertise in sportsosteopathy reflect exactly what we stand for: high-quality, personalized guidance tailored to every athlete—from recreational to elite level.
